20 Facts About Me

Siem Reap, Cambodia 2024’

After introducing the outbackfiles and the origin of its name, I figured I’d share a bit about myself. Below I’ll give 20 facts about who I am, some personal, and some less practical. I think it’s important that the audience I’m connecting with has some prior knowledge of who I am at a deeper level with insight into my background. And who knows maybe we’ve got some things in common. These facts are in no sequence relating to importance, just merely trying to connect with some of you and describe what makes me, me.

  1. The Burrito Obsessor

Fun fact, I am overly obsessed with burritos and Mexican food in general. Burrito’s should universally be known as a superior food for all to enjoy. Since my earliest moments with Chipotle to our plethora of options here in Denver, I’ve been fixated on the glory of what they bring to the table. My preferred spot in town is Kikes Red Taco’s an uber-successful food truck converted to brick and mortar which I highly recommend if you’re in the area. They’re located in the heart of Denver and if you’re as intrigued as I am in their unmatched food options here’s their link https://kikesredtacos.com/

  2. Family First

I cherish time with family and friends above all else. I’ve alluded to it on this website but without the people I care most about my experiences would have been all for not. They’ve supported me, taught me, and grown with me in ways that I’m eternally grateful for. My two parents have supported me since day one, and trust me, I know how fortunate I am to have them and the extended family that surrounds us. The cast of friends I’ve grown with have also been as influential and important to me. Those from my earliest days in Gorham Maine, through college in Rhode Island, to my more recent home in Denver Colorado.

  3. My Career

I have a bachelor’s degree in Finance and am still pursuing a career in financials. I cannot express enough how far my experience is from the majority of travel influencers who rant as if the 9-5 is the death of us. I’m fortunate in the sense that I do truly love my job, and get to help educate individuals building their wealth. I also understand not everyone feels that way, thus my fortunate attitude to have the job I’m in. I studied Finance in college, with a minor in business law which has translated into my current advisory role. I’m not sure where this road will take me, but for the time being I’m learning from a fountain of knowledge and plan to use that to help those around me. I look forward to sharing with you more about how I manage my current role in correlation to traveling frequently.

  4. The Extrovert

Always have and hope to always be extroverted. I do genuinely feed off others’ presence and their energy. It just makes me happy. I also feel as though lots of those I spend time with are generally extroverted as well. But if you’re not, no worries we can still be friends.

  5. The Best of Television

Now this might get a bit controversial but here are some of my most beloved shows to date. A more recent binge of mine was spent on Peaky Blinders which I’m already ready to rewatch Cillian Murphy build his empire in the cobbled streets of England. Another long-time favorite of mine is Survivor which goes hand in hand with the adventure theme that I’m thoroughly addicted to. Since a little boy, I’ve sat on the couch with my parents on Wednesdays and melted as castaways hunted for the coveted hidden immunity idols. Some other notable shows that have piqued my interest are Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Office of course (who doesn’t love Steve Carell), and Yellowstone.

  6. 21 And Counting

In my lifetime I have traveled to 21 countries. Some of my favorites include Norway, Switzerland, Greece, Indonesia, Thailand, and I’m quite fond of my home in the United States. Not to discredit some of the other locations I’ve visited because it goes without saying but each country has its own unique beauty and something special to offer. My most coveted location to visit is Australia. If I could be anywhere it’d be submerged along the Great Barrier Reef within its buzzing ecosystem.

  7. Little Shredder

At eight years old I picked up my first snowboard and never looked back. Not always shared, but it’s true skiing was my first winter sport. The turning point can be attributed to a winter morning when I was left behind during a ski lesson at seven years old and decided to revolt immediately following that lesson. Some of my favorite mountains include Sugarloaf, Saddleback, Loon, Copper, Winter Park, Aspen, and Breckenridge.

  8. I Believe I Can Fly

In 2022 I went paragliding in Interlaken Switzerland over the Alps. Upon traveling to Switzerlands outdoor enthusiasts pinnacle my friend Kyle and I felt we had to partake in one of the adrenaline sports offered. And what better way to take in the views?

  9. I Beleive I Can Touch The Sky

Living in Colorado has given me the excuse to make wild hikes out of my weekends. That includes hiking four 14,000 ft mountains up to this point, which in Colorado they’re known as 14ers. This one of the hobbies I’ve grown to love whether hiking with a friend or solo, it’s helped challenge me in a new category letting me escape the city. I’ve hiked Quandary Peak, Grays Peak, Long’s Peak, and Mt. Massive.

  10. Vacationland

Born in Portland Maine (USA), and raised nine miles west in a small suburban town Gorham. Forever grateful to say I grew up sandwiched between our serine lakes, and picturesque oceans. When people ask what Maine was like growing up, I ask them to imagine an abyss of powder in the winter, and the stereotypical movie summers filled with tomfoolery and sunshine.

  11. Music Taste

Classic Rock n Roll. Convince me otherwise. Motley Crue, Bruce Springsteen, and Journey just to list a few close to my heart. I’ve also grown especially fond of indie and folk which sits well on a good road trip. Country in the summer, rap in the gym, and some classic Louis Armstrong goes a long way.

  12. The One and Only

I have 0 siblings. Yep, it’s just me and although I feel there’s a negative connotation affiliated with ungrateful only children I’ve tried to stay thankful for everything I’ve grown up with. I can attribute those lessons to my parents emphasizing the importance of gratitude and appreciation for everything earned and given. Interestingly enough, I’ve always felt as though I’ve had an extended family of siblings through my cousins, and friends and never truly felt like an only child.

  13. Something in the Air

My favorite season is Autumn in New England. A nice flannel, Halloween, and a brisk breeze to compliment the kaleidoscopic foliage sounds just fine to me.

  14. Locked into Fitness

I am an avid subscriber to a daily lift at the gym. I do believe in keeping a healthy routine and working consistently to maintain great health. For me, the gym provides a release of stress and a time for me to silence the surrounding noise. It also keeps me in good physical shape which works in tandem with a healthy diet. Health is one of my top priorities and always will be.

  15. Two Worlds One Family

My family is split between the Boston MA area, and Northern Maine. My father was brought up in Maine’s northern hemisphere, while my mom was in Weston Massachusetts. Funny how they picked a town right dab in the middle of their homes.

  16. Behind the Tape

Growing up I played football, and lacrosse for our high school team in Gorham Maine. I started both around the same time roughly when I was ten years old and played through graduation. That all while learning to become the stellar snowboarder I am now. Some sports I’ve grown into over the recent years are golfing, hiking, and fishing. Since being in Denver it’s allowed me to explore new activities.

  17. Book Worm

Something about picking a tree and a phenomenal book just hits. I’ve been recently imbedded in the world of the Red Rising series which feels like a mix of Hunger Games and Game of Thrones in space. Though, my favorite story will always be F Scott. Fitzgeralds Great Gatsby.

  18. The Dynasty

I am an absolute diehard fan of the best football team in America. The New England Patriots. You can be mad at me for this one, but the rings say it all. My father and I have been watching side by side as they racked up Lombardi trophies year after year. Now that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are gone I’m trying to hold it together.

  19. Hunter the Hunter

I’ve been hunting since roughly ten years old with my father. It’s been our family tradition to hunt white-tail deer in northern Maine well before I was born. Hunting with my father, our family, and friends has undoubtedly become one of my absolute favorite trips every year. Secluded from society by 40 miles and abandoned from the internet or cell reception lets us prioritize time spent together. Enjoying each others company at our notorious Saturday card night or early mornings shivering in the cold as we wait for the generator to kick on to thaw the camp out have become some of my fondest memories. And is there really any credibility behind my name if I don’t actually hunt?

  20. Creative side

I’ve always had some innate draw to being creative. Whether it was drawing, filming, or building something unique I’ve always loved the fact creativity lives without bounds. I grew up watching my mom meticulously line sugar cookies putting an exceptional spin on each of her creations. This showed me that the foundation of art is built upon each individual’s own interpretation. There is no right or wrong, nor a clear definitive path ahead. Allowing myself to free flow in creativity has been a blessing, and I’m thankful my mom passed down that gene. Thanks mom
